Hawks Take Fullerton to Five Sets
The Santiago Canyon College men's volleyball team pushed a match against the Fullerton College Hornets to five sets on Wednesday night and put together a balanced effort, highlighted by strong performances at the net and from the service line.
Freshman Jack Frame led the Hawks offensively, finishing with 18 kills on .317 hitting, adding six total blocks and 22 points, the most by any Santiago Canyon player. Frame was a steady presence throughout all five sets, contributing on both ends of the court.
Freshman Brayden Payne provided another major offensive boost, tallying 15 kills and two service aces while adding 17 points. Payne also chipped in defensively with five digs, helping keep rallies alive in extended points.
The Hawks' offense was paced by freshman David Martinez, who recorded a match-high 23 assists while also contributing a kill, a service ace, and five digs. Freshman Kody Cornish added 10 assists and an ace, giving Santiago Canyon consistent ball distribution across the lineup.
Defensively, sophomore Levi Florance anchored the back row with 14 digs, while Martinez and Payne each added five. At the net, the Hawks totaled 25 blocks, with freshman Logan Gaines and Logan Campbell each posting five block assists, and freshman Rodolfo Marrero-Ramos adding six total blocks.
Santiago Canyon finished the match with 49 kills, four aces, and 40 digs as a whole.
