The Santiago Canyon College men's basketball team struggled to find its rhythm on the road Wednesday night, falling to the Riverside City College Tigers for its second consecutive loss.
The Hawks' offensive troubles stemmed largely from beyond the three-point line and in the turnover column. SCC shot just 20 percent from long range while committing 19 turnovers—11 of them in the first half. Those miscues led directly to 20 points for Riverside City College and helped create a sizable deficit that the Hawks faced for most of the contest.
Freshman point guard Paris Lassiter led the Hawks with 20 points and 12 rebounds, recording his second double-double of the season and his second in the last three games. He also paced the team in shooting efficiency, finishing 9-for-17 from the field.
Freshman forward Ryan Weber followed with 13 points and came two rebounds shy of a double-double. Freshman Dominic Bolton added nine points, while Jayden Oei chipped in eight points in a supporting role.
Freshman Jacob De Armas was held under double figures, snapping his 10-game streak of scoring in double digits.
