Bio

Christy Medlin joined the Santiago Canyon College coaching staff in 2012.

Medlin began her collegiate playing career at Cypress College, where she served as a two-year team captain, earned First Team All-League honors, and was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. She later completed her playing career at Cal State Fullerton, where she earned a bachelor’s degree, a teaching credential, and a master’s degree in child development and education.

At Loara High School, Medlin was a four-year varsity starter. She earned First Team and Second Team All-League honors, All-Orange County recognition, and team MVP honors. As a senior, she was named Athlete of the Year and received the Kay Malucky Scholarship. She also competed with the Cal South Olympic Development Program’s U17 and U19 state and regional teams.

Medlin taught in the Fullerton School District for more than 17 years and was named Teacher of the Year in 2007. She later left elementary education to pursue coaching full time. In addition to her role at Santiago Canyon College, she has coached at Kennedy High School, El Dorado High School, and Canyon High School, where the Comanches qualified for the CIF playoffs each season during her tenure. She currently serves as the Girls Program Director and a club coach at BOCA OC.

Medlin holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National A License and serves as both a USSF National Coaching License Instructor and a FIFA Coaching Instructor.

She lives in Anaheim with her husband, Andy, and their three children, Kylee, Jake, and Eli.
